WHO WE ARE
We are a group of people from different nations who follow and worship Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and take an identity as New Living Church. New Living Church is a Mennonite Brethren church. The Canadian Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches is a community of 250+ diverse Mennonite Brethren (MB) congregations spread across Canada, united by Jesus Christ through their evangelical Anabaptist beliefs and values and by their mission to grow healthy while helping them reach their worlds.
We strive to become a warm and welcoming family of God where people from different nations grow together in Christ.
Helping people grow through:
A. Learning and living the Word of God
B. Building a relationship with God and one another
C. Reaching out to our neighbours with the love of Jesus
A SHORT HISTORY
Began in 2009 as a Toronto campus of the Vancouver-based multisite congregation HFAN, it was originally an Indonesian-speaking church, reaching out to Indonesians. The church also became a part of the Ontario Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches. In 2012, the church became independent from the Vancouver body and began an affiliation with The Jesus Network in Toronto. Through prayer, the church discerned a vision to broaden their outreach beyond Indonesian speakers. House for All Nations Toronto changed its name to New Living Church and began English services in 2016.
In September 2019, the church decided to work together with another church, Lighthouse Bible Church, who is also worshipping in the same church building. We decided to merge our Sunday worship service so we can share resources for the work of the Kingdom of God. Starting January 2020, the church obtained its charitable status and operating independently from the Jesus Network. And in September 2022, Lighthouse Bible Church, officially merged with the New Living Church, and we welcomed Ps. Glen and Leah Zeidler as part of the leadership team of the New Living Church.
Jacob, Sri and their three children – Yerusha, Hulda, and Mishael, came to Toronto in 2005. With the passion to reach out to new immigrants in Toronto, Jacob went to the Toronto Baptist Seminary in 2006 and graduated with a Master of Divinity. From 2007 to 2009, Jacob and Sri were involved in the ESL (English as a Second Language) ministry of Jarvis Street Baptist Church. This gave them the opportunity to experience, first hand, the challenges and difficulties of newcomers to Canada from various different countries. In Spring and Summer 2009, Jacob served as a Student Pastor at Grace Church Don Mills. In August 2009, Jacob served as the Pastor of House For All Nations Toronto reaching out to the Indonesian newcomers in Toronto. House for All Nations Toronto changed its name to the New Living Church and began English services in 2016.
Ps. Glen Zeidler, previously the pastor of the Lighthouse Bible Church, is currently serving as one of the pastors of the New Living Church.
Deacons who are presently elected to help the pastors ministering to the church: Tjoa Boen Hauw, Franky Suarly, Hendra Tanuwidjaja, and Venny Lin.
